Split level stairs

When drawing a Floor plan for a property, there are often cases where there are a set of stairs that go between two rooms, on the same floor.  In Metropix we call this a Split Level staircase.

L shape room

When creating a floor plan for a property, there are very few that will have just square or rectangular rooms. There will be many that are L shaped, and this is incredibly easy to create with Metropix.

How to draw a floor plan

See how to draw a complete floor plan for a 1 bedroom flat.

You can add stairs to your Floor plan, once you have drawn more than one floor. Simply click on the Stairs icon at the bottom of the screen. This will open up a box on the screen and ask which floor you would like the stairs to go between. Select the floor you wish the bottom step to be on, and then select the floor you wish the top step to be on and click “Next”. You now have to set the stair direction. Imagine you are on the bottom step looking up, and select the footprints that are facing the correct way, (as you look at the plan) for example North, and then click “Next”.

Now use your mouse to position the bottom step in the desired location on the plan, and left click to place it.

You now need to imagine you are at the top of the steps looking down, and select the correct footprint direction in the same way, for example South is the staircase is straight. This will add your steps on to the plan.

Once the stairs are added, you can drag the dots on each step to increase or decrease the length of the run of steps if you wish.

If the stairs have a turn in them, you will also have the option to select angled steps or flat landings.

The video above gives quick and easy reference to see how this works as and when you need it.
